SXSW 2015

Take A Rip of This!!!!!!

With SXSW steadily approaching, now is the time for us independent artist to start trying book a showcase to perform at. SXSW is a great opportunity for independent artist to reach new fans and network with prominent people in the industry, at the same time as enjoying performances from some of their favorite artist. It also functions as a film festival for up an coming directors to display some of their latest films and get critiques on them. It is set to start March 13th and continue on until March 22nd, and it's not to late to register to try and get a spot just head over to http://sxsw.com/ where you can see all the requirements and deadlines. SXSW is the largest festival of it's kind in the world, founded in 1987, by Ronald Swenson. Artist such as John Mayer and Rae Sremmurd, made their debut at the festival, and went on to sign recording deals with major record labels as a result. In addition popular movies such as "21 Jump Street" and "Cabin In The Woods, also made their debut at the festival and went on to receive critical acclaim. It's a great place to attend even if you're not an artist and you're just a fan, with over 100 different bars/venues, and over 1,000 different acts and attractions anyone is sure to enjoy themselves at SXSW. Some of the biggest names attending the event this year will be "Best Coast", "Mariana and the Diamonds, The Bleachers, and many more. If you're strictly there for Hip-hop, make sure you attend the Illmore, which a house party hosted by Illroots, and some of the most famous and popular artist in the industry.

  1. I was fortunate enough to attend SXSW as a showcase performer last year, and was able to see and take part in the insanity first hand. I'm not sure a better place exists to get exposure as an up and coming artist, the networking opportunities alone are worth the trip!

  2. I too was able to participate in the showcase opportunities at SXSW2014! But even if you don't have a chance to showcase your talent, it is definitely worth going down and seeing what other artists are doing. Artists from Lady Gaga to relatively unknown artists from all genres are performing side-by-side. Austin is the place to be in March if you're really in the business!
